When Carnes Hill Marketplace came to us with a brief for their 90s-themed 20th anniversary celebrations, Social Playground was challenged to create a fun and enticing photo activation, that would remain engaging across an extended period of time.
Creating cut-through amongst the noise is a common challenge for retail activations. Shoppers are inundated with marketing messages, in a rush to get things done, or just uninterested in deviating from their plan to tick off their shopping list in their activewear.
Luckily, the Social Playground team are experts in creating cut-through in a retail environment, with visually enticing theming and irresistible photo fun, which is focused around providing real ROI that can be leveraged by centres and retailers beyond event days.
In addition to this, the added challenge at Carnes Hill was the month-long activation period, meaning the concepts, equipment and theming needed to last.
Social Playground created a bespoke 90s themed space, complete with a branded Social Photo Booth, custom props and 90s games. Social Playground worked with multiple stakeholders to incorporate existing creative into the build and styling, ensuring all was cohesive within the overarching campaign.
A custom-branded enclosure was created for our Social Photo Booth, to ensure as much branding as possible, whilst being sturdy and stable enough to last for the month-long activation. The customisable decals on each panel of the booth allows brands to maximise their branding and key messages onsite.
A double-sided printed fabric backdrop was produced to create an intimate feeling at the activation space, with campaign branding to create a sense of consistency.
A colourful and enticing activation space was created, using flooring, custom backdrop, custom printed props, 90s games, tables and stools. We also created a custom-branded giant cassette tape, bringing the instant nostalgia of the 90s to Carnes Hill.
The Social Playground team are well-versed in the specific requirements of retail environments, so organising logistics, bump-in and bump-out, and WHS requirements is all on our radar in advance.
Our onsite Event Producer, supervised all bump-in elements, making sure everything arrived safely and smoothly, and our Activations Coordinator supervised the visual styling, ensuring all was on-brief and on-brand.
